I am in the process of looking for a new apartment. Mine is more than I want to pay, and with a cheaper apartment, I might even be able to afford a monthly bus pass, as TransLink has not seen it within their mandate to provide a reasonably priced bus pass to all the post-secondary institutes in the lower mainland. But, I do not wish to rant about transportation, at least not right now.
No, more important right now is looking for a shiny new apartment. I have so far found, and been denied, two great apartments in great locations, both very reasonably priced. The first was at Ontario and 23nd for $380 POU, and the second was at Cambie and 22nd for $425 POU. I preferred the one on Cambie, but I found out today that went to someone else.
So, tomorrow I have my hopes up again for a place at Balaclava and 6th. I may have emailed the person first, and they seem cool with the short description of myself that I sent, so hopefully I can get it when I go see it! It’s also very cheap - $400 + internet - so, awesome! Hopefully myself and the UBC grad student click, and the place is nice (listed as newly renovated). So yes, hopes up.
As I mentioned before, I’ve really been bitten by the Polaroid bug! I keep making Polaroids as I move about my life, and I’ve now got a nice collection of 3×4s! Adding to that stack are a few new favourites:

This is my new favourite self-portrait along with, not a transfer, but the actual Polaroid negative! I think it’s awesome.

‘Boss’ is written on (at least) one of the tanks on Beatty and Dunsmuir. I think I did a fine job of composing this ‘roid.

Finally in my favourite new Polaroids is this sign from Duffin’s Donuts. This particular outlet is closed and run down, but I hear that there may be another somewhere else in Vancouver.
To top off this post, I will not only show you another Polaroid, not to mention another Polaroid transfer, but also, a photo of my new bike, all rolled into one! I got this bike a little more than a week ago (last Sunday) and I love it. So much fun to ride!

Ain’t she a beauty? Things left to be done: straighten the rim on my brand new back wheel (I got the wheel last Tuesday! I don’t know what I did…), get a new chain, find a single gear crank for the back wheel (using the multi-gear crank from the old set-up for now), clean out the pedals (they seem to make some awful noise), tighten the handle bars (according to Butters who bar tends at The Whip, they’re a bit loose) and possibly also do something about the bearings in my back tire - they also seem to be making noise :) I cannot wait to learn how to do this stuff! So excited!
Peace.
